Welcome

Welcome to the inaugural issue of TRP's monthly e-letter. During the busy year ahead, we'll be sending you news briefs, tips, and information related building deconstruction and materials salvage and reuse. In addition, each issue will contain:

  • Special of the Month. You'll have an opportunity for additional savings over our already-low prices on selected inventory items.
  • New Inventory. We'll tell you about unique items we've added to our inventory.
  • Deconstruction Update. We have jobs starting monthly throughout California. Find out in advance about the materials we'll be getting from each one.

Friends Of TRP

The ReUse People of California (TRP) is a nonprofit 501(c)3 corporation whose mission is to reduce the solid waste stream and change the way the built environment is renewed by salvaging building materials and distributing them for reuse.

Join the Friends of TRP at either the Oak or the Mahogany level. In addition to helping TRP achieve its mission, you will benefit in several ways.

Friends of TRP at the Oak level ($25 per year), receive:

  • A TRP baseball cap.
  • A TRP bumper sticker. If the bumper sticker is affixed to your vehicle when you shop at the TRP ReUse Bazaar in Alameda, California, TRP will pay your sales tax (an 8.25% savings!).
  • Our monthly email newsletter listing special discounts.
  • Automatic entry in our quarterly members-only drawing for a $100 gift certificate redeemable for merchandise at the ReUse Bazaar. Drawings begin in July, 2004 (second quarter). You need not be present to win.

Friends of TRP at the Mahogany Level ($100 per year) receive all of the above benefits, plus:

  • 1 additional TRP baseball cap
  • Two free passes to an Alameda Point Antiques and Collectibles Faire (first Sunday of every month)
  • A wine tasting for two at Rosenblum Cellars Tasting Room in Alameda.

Click here to access the TRP membership form. Print this Acrobat PDF form and mail it to TRP with your donation. Thank you!

Special Of The Month

Get 10% off on all doors and an additional 10% off on all hollow-core slab doors! Remember, most doors include hardware and jambs, so this is a great deal. (Offer valid through February 29, 2004)

New Inventory

We recently added thousands of mission style or “C type” roof tiles. We're selling these 27-year-old beauties for $1/each. That's less than half what you'd pay new, and these are in excellent condition.

Deconstruction Update

Bay Area
In February, we will completely deconstruct a 3,000 sq. ft. custom home in Los Gatos. Since the owners will be living in the guest house on the property, we will not have a job-site sale. This home has concrete roof tiles, for those of you who want a roof that will last a lifetime. It will also yield a large quantity of horizontal redwood siding.

In May, we will deconstruct a 2,000 sq. ft. home and cottage in Larkspur. The home is over 100 years old and was originally a barn. Talk about great lumber—wow!! We will have a job site sale at this location.

In May we will be taking down a 100 year old home in Belvedere. The home is all redwood, including the interior paneling. No decision yet on a job-site sale. We’ll keep you posted.

Santa Cruz
In April, we will be deconstructing a 2,500 sq. ft. custom ranch home in Santa Cruz. This home is full of great lumber. We will conduct a job-site sale.

San Diego
Beginning in March, our San Diego office will be receiving all the materials from a 19,000 sq. ft. estate home in La Jolla. Since there will be no job-site sale, these materials will be shipped to our warehouse in Alameda.
