New Roles for Key TRP Employees in 2014

The ReUse People SpecialsTRP reached a new plateau in 2013, due primarily to the drive and enthusiasm of our people.

The year began with the opening of a new regional office in Salt Lake City. By midyear, Regional Manager Daniel Salmon was fully trained and ready to go. Five months later he had completed a total of five projects – a record for a new region.

Shannon Barnes, promoted in 2012 to Digital Media and Systems Manager at the home office, moved up once again – this time to TRP Vice President. Shannon is working with me on virtually every aspect of the company’s stewardship and, in addition, oversees TRP regional offices. This allows me to focus more on long-range and short-term business strategy.

Deconstruction Manager Ezequiel Borquez, never one to never let the grass grow under his feet, has decided to move to Los Angeles in 2014 and start a TRP deconstruction program in Southern California. While his decision has my approval and support, the prospect of adequately filling his shoes in Oakland gave me minor heart palpitations at first. Fortunately, relief came almost immediately.

Juan Gomez, Assistant Retail Manager in Oakland, will succeed Ezequiel as Northern California Deconstruction Manager. Juan brings with him a solid grounding in customer service, product knowledge, logistics and materials handling. We expect great things of Juan.

Kelly Simione, our San Bernardino Retail Manager in-waiting, has already joined us on a part-time basis. Kelly was the star of our recent retail-warehouse training program with the Housing Authority of the County of San Bernardino. She will be responsible for operating the housing authority’s warehouse for used building materials.

The dedication, enthusiasm and talent of these managers, together with their capable teams, will enable TRP to expand the following outreach programs in 2014:

  • Conduct webinars on deconstruction and the retailing of used building materials
  • Open the new retail-warehouse in San Bernardino
  • Schedule open-workshop training sessions in “Running a Retail Warehouse”
  • Increase TRP deconstruction activities
  • Continue national expansion

…all of which will allow us to divert more materials from landfills, provide quality materials at low prices, and provide employment opportunities.
